CoAS Rana off to India

KATHMANDU (REPUBLICA): Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) General Gaurav Shumsher Rana left for India on an official visit at the invitation of his Indian counterpart General Bikram Singh on Sunday afternoon.



During his visit, CoAS Rana is scheduled to meet Indian Army Chief Singh and other top army officers, including Admiral Devendra Kumar Joshi and Air Chief Marshal Nak Browne. [break]



Indian President Pranab Mukherjee will confer the honorary title of general of the Indian Army on Rana amid a special function. Rana is also scheduled to meet Indian Defense Minister AK Antony during his trip. He will return home on January 15.
