Gurung laid a wreath at the Gurkha Memorial after receiving a guard of honor by the 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards, said a statement issued by the British Embassy on Wednesday. Wall acknowledged that British forces learnt lessons in Iraq which he would be pleased to share with the Nepal Army.
“None of us can afford to break the bond of trust that must exist between our Armies and the people,” he said.
Later, under the direction of the government, Gurung declined to meet officials of the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and DFID, saying it would be inappropriate to speak on behalf of other ministries.
Gurung is accompanied by his spouse Kamala Gurung, Major General Netra Bahadur Thapa and Lieutenant Colonel Shiva Shankar Gurung.
