KATHMANDU, April 4: Chief Justice Ram Prasad Shrestha on Monday formally requested Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal to immediately call a meeting of the Constitutional Council (CC) to recommend next chief justice.

In a letter to the prime minister, Chief Justice Shrestha has said that there is not enough time to complete the parliamentary hearing process on the recommendation so a meeting of the council should be called soon. [break]

Shrestha has also informed the prime minsiter that the former will go on leave once his successor is named.

Supreme Court justice Khil Raj Regmi is the seniormost justices among the SC justices and he is likely to replace Shrestha.
