TAPLEJUNG, Nov 26: A high level taskforce comprising police officers from Eastern Regional Police Station and Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) has been formed to search for Madan Poudel, a radio journalist who has been missing for the last three months.

Poudel went missing from Phulbari VDC of Taplejung district on September 16. [breaak]According to Sanjibbabu Khadka, District Police Office Inspector, the search team has formed to find Poudel within a week. Khadka is also one of the members of the taskforce led by DSP Sudip Rajbhandari.

Taskforce for the search of Poudel was formed after locals had raised the issue during a visit by Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Parshuram Khatri. Khatri to Fhungling, district headquarter last week.

“In just a week a high level taskforce was formed after the visit of DIG Khatri,” said Khadka.

After the formation of the taskforce, a committee to pressure the authority for Poudel´s search had also postponed its protest plans, informed Padam Palungwa Coordinator of the committee.

“We have received little relief from the fact that a taskforce has been formed and the search has begun,” said Palungwa. “However, we will revive our demonstrations if the taskforce doesn´t take the matter seriously,´ added Palungwa.
