CIAA files case against land revenue staffers

KATHMANDU, Sept 8: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed a case at the Special Court in Kathmandu against some staffers of the the Land Revenue Office, Sindhupalchowk on the charge of their involvement in transferring the ownership of public land to some private individuals.



Those accused by the CIAA are land revenue officer Purushottam Bhakta Kharel, who worked at the office when the ownership transfers were effected, and other staffers including Bhagirath Sigdel, Omman Shrestha, Jit Bahadur Achhami, and Bhaktaram Shrestha, said a statement issued by the CIAA on Sunday.[break]



The anti-corruption body also filed cases against Mohan Bahadur Tamang (Lama) and Ram Bahadur Tamang (Lama), into whose names the land ownership was transferred. The Tamang duo had allegedly transferred the ownership of pieces of public land in Bhotsipa VDC-5 into their names by bribing government officials.
