Entrepreneurs, who effected the upward revision in price, attributed their decision to the latest drop seen in the production of chicken.[break]
“The drop in production compelled us to raise price. Consumers in the Valley would now need to pay Rs 200 for a kg of chicken,” said Janga Bahadur BC, president of National Chicken Sellers Association.
The association had lowered the price of chicken by Rs 15 per kg last week after fresh productions from Tarai started finding way into the Valley.
“But the situation has changed now. The supply coming from Tarai districts has stopped and productions in other districts too have gone down with the drop in temperature,” said BC.
“Demand, on the other hand, has gone up as people normally consume more chicken during winter,” he added.
Chicken price rises to Rs 410 per kg
