The people belonging to the Rai, Limbu, Sunuwar and Yakha castes who have dominance in number in the society offer nwagi (new harvest especially rice) to their departed ones and family deities.[break]
This festival celebrated every full moon day of Mangsir as per the Nepali calendar is called Udhauli in Rai community while Chasok in Limbu, Phol Syadar in Sunuwar, Chasowa in Yakkha Rai and Dhanya Purnima in the Hindu community.
Various temples as Sumhalung, Silauti and Labrekuti of Panchthar district have been thronged for prayer and pujas.
Even a rally with the nationalities donned in ethnic attires was organized in Tapalejung district.
The government had begun giving public holiday for this day since three years ago.
