Central and Western Regions in last four

MAHENDRANAGAR, Feb 29: Central and Western Regions on Wednesday advanced into semifinal in the men´s T20 at Sixth National Games in Kanchanpur. Central beat Eastern by seven wickets.



Winning the toss, Eastern managed to score 104 runs in 19.5 overs. Jugal Kishor Chaudhary scored 21 runs for Eastern, while Naresh Raj Giri grabbed three wickets. [break]



Central successfully chased the target in 13.4 overs for the loss of three wickets. Binod Das was unbeaten on 48 runs while Anil Mandal scored not out 34 runs. Amit Dahal grabbed three wickets for Eastern.



In another match, Western beat Mid-western Region by two runs. Winning the toss, western posted the total of 113 runs losing seven wickets. Dipesh Khatri was unbeaten for 51 runs, while Sagar Pun scored 34 runs. Navin Shahi grabbed three wickets.



Chasing the moderate total of 114 runs, Mid-western managed to score 111 runs in 20 overs for the loss of seven wickets. Anupam Singh scored 56 runs off 46 balls and Shubendu Pandey scored 32 runs. Dipesh Khatri and Rahul BK grabbed two wickets each.



Central will meet Western in the semifinal, while Armed Police Force meets Far- western in another semifinal on Thursday.



In women´s section, APF, Eastern and Far-western Region advanced to the semifinals on Wednesday. In the first match of the day, Mid-western defeated APF by two wickets but did not qualify for the semifinal. Mid-western had less net run rate than other teams. Winning the toss, APF opted to bat first and scored 79 runs losing eight wickets. Rubina Chhetri scored 21 runs.



Mid-western successfully chased the target in 19.3 overs losing eight wickets. Mamta Thapa scored 17 runs for the winning team.



In another match, Far-western defeated Western and advanced to the semifinal. Far-western elected to bat first and scored 130/6. Maya Rawat scored 47 runs off 49 balls. Prabina Khadka grabbed three wickets.



Western managed to score 118 runs off 20 overs losing seven wickets. Indu Barma scored not out 49 runs off 46 balls for Western, while Roshani Chand grabbed two wickets.
