Speaking to the press after the completion of a two-day central level security meeting on Thursday, he said he has ordered the CDOs to strictly adhere to the role of administrators as impunity was mounting apace because of their negligence. [break]
Stating that the CDOs are playing the role of mediators instead of carrying out their duty as administrators, he informed that he has further directed officers working under central level security officials to bring groups involved in illegal activities under the purview of the law, whatever the circumstances.
The security system has become fragile due to the carelessness of the CDOs and it is a challenging task holding back the increasing levels of corruption in the districts of the Central Region, he stated. “It is the responsibility of the CDOs to control the irregularities going on within their districts.”
According to him, he will no longer tolerate any kind of blockages on the major highways of the Central Development Region. He also warned that he would punish CDOs who fail to reopen blocked highways without delay.
He expressed concern regarding the increase in illegal business activities and use of small arms in the Terai districts. “Curbing unlawful activities and use of weapons in the Terai is the main priority," he added.
The security meeting saw the attendance of Kubar Singh Rana, Inspector General of Nepal Police, Koshraj Banta, Inspector General of Armed Police Force, the district security chiefs of nine districts of the Central Region and local administrative heads.
