CC meeting put off amidst lawmakers protest

KATHMANDU, April 8: The Constitutional Committee’s (CC) meeting was put off without entering the agenda’s which was scheduled to discuss amidst protest from the lawmakers on Friday.



The lawmakers Biswendra Paswan, Sadrul Miya Haq, Rukmini Chaudhary and Buddha Ratna Manandhar disrupted the meeting demanding the major political parties pay attention to their grievances.[break]



‘’They threatened to throw chairs and tables from the window and disturb the meeting, if their grievances are not taken seriously,” said lawmaker of CPN Samyukta Kalpana Rana. They had disrupted the CC meeting before by putting their concern and protesting against the major political parties arguing that the small parties are being ignored and sidelined, and that they were not given priority and time to speak in the meeting.



The leaders from the major political parties urged to start the meeting and assured them that their concern will be addressed in the meeting.



The lawmakers declined to give in and demanded that they need the commitment from the top parties in a written form.



The CC meeting was to discuss and settle the remaining dispute in the constitution writing.



The next meeting of the CC has been called for April 12.
