Carter telephones PM Khanal

KATHMANDU, March 10: Former US president and chairman of Carter Center Jimmy Carter on Thursday morning expressed deep concern on issues the peace process and constitution writing in a telephone talk with Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal.



Carter also congratulated PM Khanal during 10 minute talks, according to a press note issued by PM’s media advisor Surya Thapa.[break]



“I am confident that you would succeed,” Carter was quoted as telling PM Khanal while also assuring necessary support from the US government and himself.



PM Khanal informed Carter about parties’ attempt to reach agreement on peace process and constitution writing. Carter said that he would call former PMs Pushpa Kamal Dahal, also Maoist chairman, and UML’s Madhav Kumar Nepal along with Nepali Congress president Sushil Koirala to push for logical conclusion of the peace process.
