The recent eighth national general convention of the association approved a proposal to that end. Besides, the association has strongly demanded the government ensure the election of trade unions.
According to newly elected Deputy General Secretary of the Association, Rameswhor Bohara, the association has sought representation of the national-level trade unions, associations and federations in the public enterprises board and urged the government to bring a clear policy and programmes for the operation of public enterprises.
Similarly, the government has been urged to increase its investment in the public sector bearing in mind unemployment problem and economic crisis in the country and develop the Investment Board into an autonomous body.
The association demanded ending of donation terror, abduction and murder being faced by the public enterprise employees and guarantee of their security and systematic and transparent recruitment system in the public enterprises by constituting a Public Sector Service Commission.
Timely amendment to the Public Procurement Act is another demand put forth by the association.
The general convention was held in the capital on January 15 and 16, electing a 56-member new working committee under the leadership of Nepal Telecom´s Krishna Ram Shrestha.
