CA election on slated date: CEC Uprety

CHITWAN, Aug 27: Chief Election Commissioner Neel Kanth Uprety has said the Constituent Assembly election must be held on the stipulated date to ensure the voting rights of 12.5 million people.



At a press meet organized by the reporters´ club here on Tuesday, CEC Uprety said at it was the duty of political parties to sort out disputed issues, the Election Commission could not compromise on the stipulated date of the CA election.[break]



However, he said EC was ready to reconsider the issues raised by the dissenting parties on a condition that it would not affect CA elections.



Meanwhile, Election Commissioner Dr Rambhakta PB Thakur requested the media to disseminate news effectively and make the CA election respected, disciplined and credible.



At a programme organized at Birgunj on Tuesday, Commissioner Thakur said the Election Commission was committed to conducting CA election in a free and fair atmosphere.



He informed that the voter education campaign was intensified to conduct election in grand manner.
