Bus kills man; Surkhet-Dailekh transport closed

Dailekh, Jan 17: A man was killed when a passenger bus (Na 2 Kha 5569) ran over him at Dandaparajul-7, here in the district on Wednesday night.



Buddhiram Budhathoki, 55, was mowed down to death by the Dailekh-bound bus from Surkhet, while he was sitting near his house. One other Tulasi Acharya was injured in the mishap. [break]



Angry locals took the bus control and vandalized it. They have also shut down transportation on the Surkhet-Dailekh route since early this morning, demanding compensation for the bereaved family.



Timely police intervention saved the vehicle from being set ablaze, locals said. The accident happened after the bus driven by the driver’s helper lost control, the district traffic police said.



Police have impounded the bus and detained the bus driver and his helper.
