CHITWAN, March 11: Authorities have decided to stop ticket sales and vehicle tax collection outside designated bus parks in Bharatpur in a bid to streamline transportation management in the city’s main market area.
A meeting of the District Transport Management Committee held on Wednesday decided that vehicle taxes collected by Bharatpur Metropolitan City will now be collected only from the Central Bus Terminal (Paras Bus Park) and Narayangadh Bus Park (Pokhara Bus Park).
According to Assistant Chief District Officer Chiranjivi Sharma, the decision was taken to address existing problems in the district’s transport management. Transport entrepreneurs have also been instructed to park their vehicles at designated areas and pay revenue as per regulations.

The meeting further directed transport operators to relocate their ticket counters to the respective bus parks within 48 hours, clarifying that tickets cannot be issued from locations outside the bus parks.
Sharma said that disorganized parking along the main road in the Narayangadh market area must be stopped immediately. Transport operators have also been instructed not to park vehicles unnecessarily at petrol pumps in market areas such as Pulchowk under the pretext of refueling while boarding passengers.
Earlier meetings had also made several decisions aimed at improving transportation management in Bharatpur, including regulating long- and short-distance vehicle operations, managing routes for cargo vehicles, controlling noise pollution, organizing parking and ticket counters, and improving road infrastructure.
Assistant CDO Sharma said all concerned stakeholders have been instructed to strictly implement these decisions.
