KATHMANDU, Feb 23: A passenger bus traveling from Pokhara to Kathmandu met with a fatal accident in Dhading district, killing 17 people and injuring 24 others.
The accident occurred at around 1:30 AM when the bus (Ga 1 Kha 1421) veered off the Prithvi Highway at Bhaisigauda in Benighat Rorang Rural Municipality-5 and plunged into the Trishuli River.

According to Armed Police Force (APF) spokesperson Bishnu Prasad Bhatta, the bodies of 17 victims have been recovered so far. The 24 injured passengers were rescued and taken to various hospitals for treatment.
The identities of the deceased and injured have yet to be confirmed. The exact cause of the accident remains unknown.
Rescue operations are ongoing at the site in coordination with all three security agencies. A rescue team from the APF Nepal Disaster Management Base in Adamghat was deployed under the command of Deputy Superintendent of Police Sunil Giri, along with a diving team from the Disaster Management Training School in Kurintar.
