British envoy calls on UCPN (Maoist) vice chair Bhattarai

KATHMANDU, June 7: British Ambassador to Nepal, Andy Sparkes, called on Vice-Chairman of the UCPN (Maoist) and former Prime Minister, Dr. Baburam Bhattarai, on Friday.



During the meeting held at Dr. Bhattarai´s residence at Sanepa, Lalitpur, today, they held consultations on UCPN (Maoist)´s role for the next Constituent Assembly (CA) and contemporary political situation, said Bishwadeep Pandey, personal aide to Vice-chairman Bhattarai.[break]



During the talks, Dr. Bhattarai told Sparkes the UCPN (Maoist) had been working with its full efforts to hold the CA election within November and that his party had sought positive support from international community in this regard.



Similarly, Ambassador Sparkes said the election was a must for political stability and economic development and expressed his commitment that the British government would provide possible support for this task, said Pandey quoting Sparkes.
