With support from the World Bank, the department has begun blacktopping the road from Pokhare to the district headquarters Khalanga. The black topping work is expected to be complete within 18 months. But without bridges the road will not be of much use. [break]
Deepak KC, chief of the blacktopping project, said, “We have no idea how the road will be complte without nine bridges. Without the bridges the road will be unusable especially during rainy season,” said KC.
He also said the authorities concerned have turned a deaf ear when they raised the issue of bridges on several occasions.
