Following the confirmation, a technical team from the Animal Services Directorate in Kathmandu arrived here today and began culling chickens and ducks in the affected area.[break]
A sample from the house of local Dhurva Rai had been sent to Kathmandu for lab test after around 100 chickens perished all of a sudden.
Considering Dhurva´s poultry farm the focal point all chickens and ducks in and around 500 meters perimeter have been culled, spokesperson of the Directorate Dr Narayan Prasad Ghimire said.
Locals here have suspected the bringing of four live chicken of boiler breed from Kathmandu by a local resident here to have spread the H5N1 virus to the local chickens.
