KATHMANDU, March 24: Thanks to technological advancements, the automobile market of Nepal has taken a leap forward and started selling vehicles through internet. More and more companies are launching websites to increase transactions via online.

Easycars.com.np, which is operated by Margon Research and Consultancy, is one such site that is dedicated for sales of vehicles. The site came into operation about a year ago and has been serving customers in every way possible to buy new as well as pre-owned vehicles. [break]

The company charges a fee of Rs 5,000 for people who want to upload information of their vehicles in the website. “If the vehicle does not get sold within three months, we will refund the amount,” said Santosh Ranjitkar, the director of easycars.com.np

The website has information of more than 500 vehicles. “We get about 5,000 unique visitors every month. This shows that more and more people are visiting the online sites to buy and sell vehicles,” Ranjitkar said, adding, “Almost all the vehicles get sold within three months of their enlistment in our site.”

Apart from the online service, the company also provides offline services like providing information about the vehicles over phone even during off hours.

Hamrobazaar.com is another site that has been dealing with automobile for the past four years. It is operated by Concept Revolution -- a subsidiary of Saakha Group -- and has been dealing with purchase and sales of vehicles as well as land, houses, cell phones, electronic appliances and many more. The company charges no fee for uploading information.

“The site earns from advertisements rather than the customer’s fee,” Prabal Saakha, managing director of Hamrobazaar.com. “Generally, we record about eight transactions every day.”

Hamrobazaar.com has information of more than 700 automobiles. It is also planning to launch code verification system so that people do not upload wrong information into the website. “If we get any complaints of people uploading wrong information, we promptly remove the piece of information and also block the email address from which the information was uploaded to prevent further uploads,” added Saakha.

Hamrobazaar.com claims to have about 8,000 unique visitors every month.

Muncha.com - a poplar online vendor - has also expanded itself into automobile business with the launch of bazar.com.np. Bazar.com.np has information of new, pre-owned as well as reconditioned vehicles. “We are just providing a platform for people to put their items for sale. We do not charge any fee,” said Rajan Shrestha, coordinator of bazaar.com.np.

“We do not know how many transactions are carried out, as people can upload or remove the information on their own.”

Batas Organization - a company dealing with new and used vehicles -- is also launching a portal for the sale of new as well as reconditioned vehicles.
