CHITWAN, March 21: Chitwan Medical College has called on all public to remain alert against dengue disease on time.

At a press meet organised by the medical college Monday, it was informed that dengue, an infectious disease transmitted by mosquitoes, could turn into an epidemic if not taken precaution on time.[break]

Dr. Sheetal Adhikari of the college said no work was carried out from the state side this year against the disease and urged the government to immediately make an arrangement of appropriate resources and materials.

As mosquito bite spreads dengue, the state and commoners should jointly work to kill infectious mosquitoes, he said.

Dengue was seen for the first time in Chitwan in 2004 and the disease took an epidemic course in 2006.

According to doctors, dengue causes severe fever and can lead to vomiting, nausea and body rash as well as it can cause severe pain in the joints and internal bleeding and death.
