According to a press statement issued by his spokesperson on Thursday, Ban has urged all actors and stakeholders in Nepal to create a conducive environment for the next elections and to maintain momentum to implement the outstanding commitments of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement signed among the parties in 2006. In the statement, Ban also expressed hope that Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs, Jeffrey Feltman’s upcoming visit to Nepal will be an opportunity to express the continued commitment of the United Nations to cooperate closely with Nepal in support of progress in the peace process.
Feldman is set to arrive in Kathmandu for a three-day visit beginning March19 till 21.
