Locals organized rallies during the day while chanting welcoming slogans and applying vermilion powder to each other. These rallies among others included traditiona musical instruments like Panche Baaja.Houses have been light up. Parvati Jethar aged 53 and a resident of Datola VDC-9 said that her family and villagers have decorated their houses just like they are done during Deepawali.
"My son was one of the nearly 17000 Nepalis who gave up their lives for this very day. It has been 13 years now since he left this world. I am glad that today his dream has come true."
She called on all Nepalis to pay tribute to those who gave up their lives and paved way for promulgating the new constitution. "We should remember and respect those martyrs and be thankful as we make their dream come true on this day.
