Both MMC and Hong Kong refused to take penalties citing bad light despite repeated requests by the referee and the tournament organizer. After one and half hours, the organizer decided to replay the match on Tuesday morning.
Meanwhile, the organizers were compelled to allow free entry for Tuesday´s rematch after the spectators chanted slogans demanding that the organizers either conduct the remaining part of the match or return their ticket money.
During Monday´s match, MMC came up aggressively and took the driving seat in the 12th minute through Sujal Shrestha. Shrestha scored a magnificent goal from the box in Anil Gurung´s pass.
But Hong Kong grabbed the equalizer in the 21st minute as Bishal Rai A stunned goalie Bishal Shrestha with a powerful shot from 25 yards. Three minutes later, Naren Limbu doubled the advantage for the visiting side utilizing a pass from Tika Basnet.
MMC, however, leveled the scores in the 37th minute through its African recruit Mbile Lieonel. The remaining part of the match could not produce any goals.
In the entertaining match both the teams created a number of scoring chances. Soon after scoring a goal, Gurung hit a powerful strike from the area in a solo dash but was denied by goalie Min Basnet.
Both the teams resorted to defensive strategy in the second half and failed to score.
