The passenger bus (Lu 1 Kha 6139) had hit the vehicle in the rear even when the vehicle was at a spacious point in the road at about 11:10 am, according to Dr Bhattarai´s personal secretary Bishwadeep Pandey. Dr Bhattarai was returning to Kathmandu from Gorkha with police escorting. [break]
The passenger bus en route to Kathmandu from Butwal had refused to give way even to the police vehicle escorting Dr Bhattarai.
Though the passenger bus finally gave way to the police vehicle after following the bus for about five kilometers, it again refused to give way to Dr Bhattrai´s vehicle. When Dr Bhattarai´s vehicle attempted to overtake the bus at a spacious point, the bus hit the vehicle in the rear.
"The way the bus hit the vehicle is suspicious," said Pandey. "The vehicle would have met a terrible accident had the driver Tek Man Tamang not exercised caution."
Gajuri police has detained driver Jiwan Rana and the bus for investigation. Dr Bhattarai is unhurt but his vehicle is partially damaged.
