Army launches special program to control diarrhea spread

KATHMANDU, Aug 2: The Nepal Army (NA) launched its special health program in the diarrhea-hit Rukum and Jajarkot districts to control the spread of the disease. Under the program, NA plans to set up health posts in 25 VDCs -- 14 VDCs in Rukum and 11 in Jajarkot -- for which the required manpower and resources have been mobilized in the two districts since Saturday, a press release issued by NA on Sunday said.



The release further said that a control center will be set-up at Aarma VDC in Rukum which will facilitate the medical services in 13 VDC other in the district. Likewise, another control center at Pun VDC in Jajarkot will extend medical services to 10 other VDCs there.



Some 114 NA health workers are stationed in Rukum and around 122 NA men in Jajarkot since the spread of the disease in these two districts.
