SINDHUPALCHOWK, Dec 26: All passenger buses associated with Araniko Yatayat Sewa Samiti (AYSS) have stayed off the road for the fourth consecutive day on Monday, protesting the manhandling of the driver of one of the AYSS buses a few days back.

The disruption in bus services has affected passengers in Kavre, Sindhupalchowk, Dolakha and Ramechhap districts. They are forced to travel by tractor and truck as the buses have stopped plying on the road in those districts. [break]

Ramkaji Dahal, the bus driver, was severely thrashed last Thursday by a group of assailants including Chhavi Lama. The driver has his rib bones broken in the attack and is undergoing treatment at B and B Hospital, Gwarko, Lalitpur.

The agitating transport workers have demanded firm security to them and stern action against the guilty.

Police have nabbed one of the attackers, while the rest are absconding.

The workers have vowed not to resume the services till the remaining culprits are arrested.
