CHITWAN, April 22: Services in BP Koirala Memorial Cancer Hospital, Chitwan were affected for the last two months.

The hospital remained leaderless since March when the row over the appointment of hospital´s Executive Director could not be settled.[break]

The administrative activities in the hospital were affected as the administrative building of the hospital was padlocked for two months.

The employees close to outgoing Executive Director Dr. Bhakta Man Shrestha padlocked the administrative block of the hospital citing the management committee appointed Dr. Laxmi Narayan Singh in the post against the hospital rules.

It is unfortunate that the dispute could not be solved even after it was taken to the Legislature-Parliament, said Anil Karki, a physician in the hospital.

Following the padlocking, newly assigned Chairman of the Hospital Management Committee Rameswor Man Shrestha could not assume the work.

Dr. Singh claimed that he was appointed through the legal process and said the dispute can only be settled from the center.

However, outgoing Executive Director Dr. Bhaktaman Shrestha said he would not hand over the portfolio until the next person comes through legal way.
