APF reaches 100-match milestone

KATHMANDU Dec 17: Departmental team Armed Police Force (APF) played its 100th match of the Martyrs Memorial A Division League on Monday but Nepal Army Club spoiled APF´s party with a 5-0 drubbing.



After enjoying direct entry into A division football in 2062 BS, APF has won 42, drawn 15 and lost 43 matches. In its very first season of the Martyrs Memorial League, APF won 13, lost eight and played draws in seven matches.[break]



In its second year in 2063 BS, the team won 15 and lost 10 matches and played a draw. In the 2066/67 league, APF won six, lost 12 and earned draws in four matches. In the last season of the league, the team achieved five wins and three draws and lost nine.



APF has won three of the seven matches played in the ongoing league and lost four. It currently lies in the eighth spot with nine points.



APF´s best result in the league football came in the first and second seasons -- 2062 BS and 2063 BS -- after its entry into the top flight. APF finished fifth on both the occasions.



APF´s worst league performance was in the 2067/68 season when the departmental team managed to avoid relegation finishing 10th among 12 teams. With equal 22 points, Boys Union was forced to relegation that year. Last season, the departmental team finished 12th among 18 teams.
