A meeting of the committee held Friday at Singha Durbar issued a directive to not grant APF with the authority to arrest until the dispute on the matter between Nepal Police and the APF is resolved
Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Bam Dev Gautam, however, said that there exists no dispute between the Armed Police Force (APF) and Nepal Police regarding their jurisdiction.
Gautam further clarified that APF would not be granted a parallel authority in order to control crime like the Nepal Police. It has been, in fact, given the task of making only arrests of those people involved in prohibited activities in their area, said Gautam.
He also stated that there has been no attempt to grant APF the right to conduct investigation.
