Eight-year-old Sabina Chaudhari, a resident of Khairichandanpur village, Bardiya who was kidnapped Wednesday, was found hanging on Thursday. [break]Sabina´s body was taken to the District Hospital for post-mortem. The post-mortem showed that she was raped and murdered, according to Bardiya district police chief Surya Prasad Upadhyay.
Earlier, five-year-old Juna Budha of Dhadhabar village was kidnapped on Vijaya Dashami and found unconscious after three days. Juna died in hospital. A post-mortem showed that she too was raped.
Police have arrested Ram Bahadur Chaudhari, a resident of Khairichandanpur village, on the charge of raping and killing Sabina. Similarly, police have arrested Karna Bahadur Dangi, Hasta Bahadur Pariyar, Indra Bahadur Dangi, Khushi Ram Tharu and Prem Bahadru Oli in connection with Juna´s murder.
Police have identified Suraj Rana, who is still at large, as the prime accused in Juna´s rape and murder. They believe Rana may still be holed up somewhere in Nepal as India has temporarily sealed its border to prevent untoward incidents during the Bihar elections. "We can easily arrest him if locals cooperate," said district police chief Upadhyay.
