MAHENDRANAGAR, Aug 11: Students affiliated to the All Nepal National Independent Students Union (Revolutionary) on Tuesday torched the furniture at the office of the principal of Siddhanath Science Campus in Mahendranagar. The students also padlocked the office to protest against the Tribhuvan University´s decision to scrap the Proficiency Certificate Level (PCL).

“A group entered my office immediately after completion of the Bachelor´s third year exams and took out four chairs and table, sprinkled kerosene and burnt them,” said principal Dr Bhawani Chand Thakuri.

The police deputed for the security of the exam halls stood as mere spectators, Dr Chand complained. He argued that the decision to scrap PCL was taken by the Tribhuvan University and not the campus.
