American rapper Aisha to hold commemoration concert

KATHMANDU, April 21: A concert to commemorate the mega earthquake that devastated Nepal in April last year is being held at Bhrikuti Mandap in Kathmandu on coming Saturday.

American rapper Aisha Fukushima and her band will hold the concert alongside popular Nepali band 1974 AD, Nirnaya the NSK, and Smriddhi Rai.


Special speakers Prabal Gurung and Evana Manandhar will also make their appearances at the concert.

The U.S. Embassy has brought hip-hop musician Aisha Fukushima and her band to create a link between hip-hop culture and youth activism in Nepal.

While in Nepal, Aisha Fukushima will lead a series of workshops on 'RAPtivism', a global hip –hop project spanning 10 countries and four continents highlighting the ways culture can challenge oppression with expression.

Aisha Fukushima is a singer, educator and the leader of RAPtivism.

The band will hold a second concert in Pokhara on April 29.
