Ambulance drivers stage protest demanding security during banda

CHITWAN, May 11: Ambulance drivers in Chitwan staged sit-in outside the District Administration Office on Friday demanding security during general strikes. The drivers said they are tired of frequent bandas and verbal and physical abuse meted out ot them by banda enforcers.

Speaking to Republica, Nawaraj Lamichhane, the president of joint ambulance drivers struggle committee said security has become a major concern for ambulance drivers in view of frequent bandas. “We demand security for the drivers and we will intensify our protest if the our demand is not heeded. We will soon hold a press conference to announce our protest plan,” he said.



According to him, banda enforcers on Friday manhandled ambulance driver Sunil Shrestha and Chij Jumar Kumal at Malpot chowk, Chitwan and Rajhar, Nawalparasi, respectively.
