We served boiled eggs, doughnut and milk with horlicks in the morning, unlike black tea and biscuits that we regularly provide,” Shrestha said. Marking the TB day, the Amaghar family also participated in the awareness campaign led by Nepal anti-tuberculosis association. The children and the elderly also went door-to-door to distribute pamphlets and calendars with information about TB.
“At a formal program held in the noon, Dr Dirga Singh Bam, among other people, informed our children and mothers about the disease and its prevention and cure,” Shrestha said.
As per the data of the World Health Organization, the prevalence of tuberculosis in the country is 173 cases per 100,000 people.
