Thirty-four-year old Chhering Dolma Lama took the decision after Dilshova told her that she wished to shift Amaghar to a peaceful location permanently.[break]
“I wanted to be of some help to Dilshova maa who has been selflessly serving the helpless elderly people as well as orphans. After I came to know that she was looking for a place close to nature to shift the mothers, I felt that the land I own in Helambu could be of use to her,” said Lama. “Since she is also a great lover of nature, I am sure that the trees and wildlife in the area would be safe in her hands,” she added.
In the course of trying her luck, Chhering who left the country she was just 16 has worked in several Gulf countries so far and is planning to move out once again after her family problems get settled.
Being connected to Aamaghar -- which has been taking care of 48 elderly mothers and 51 children under a small roof in Rabibhawan, Kalimati -- has made her feel blessed, says Chhering.
On the other hand, Dilshova is elated to receive the land where she plans to erect 100 small cottages. “We will use around one third of the land and the rest would remain as it is. We have no words to express our thanks to Chhering,” she said.
Dilshova has already invited interested individuals to erect cottages in their parents´ name for which they will have to donate no more than Rs 50,000. “As we plan to use materials such as mud, stones and woods, I think the construction would not be very costly. If the donated amount does not suffice, we will add some money from our trust.”
