Airlines raise flight frequency to Pokhara

POKHARA, Nov 21: Leading domestic carriers Buddha Air and Yeti Airlines have increased their flights to Pokhara following rise in the number of tourists visiting the lake city.



Buddha Air has increased its flight frequency to Pokhara to 11 a day. Previously, it was operating eight flights day on the sector. “Tourists movement to Pokhara has increased significantly in recent days,” said Gautam Baral, station manager of Buddha Air in Pokhara. “The pressure is more on Pokhara-Kathmandu route, as most of the tourists come to Pokhara via surface route and they prefer to fly back to Kathmandu.”[break]



The airline operates 47-seater ATR 42 aircraft on the route.



Likewise, Yeti Airlines has increased its daily flights frequency to 10 from the second week of November. Ram Lamichhane, station manger of Yeti Airlines in Pokhara, said the airline was operating only five flights a day till August. “We will be adding more flights as per the demand,” he added.



Yeti Airlines operate 30-seater Jetstream aircraft on Kathmandu-Pokhara-Kathmandu sector.

According to Lamichhane, around 80 percent of their passengers are foreign tourists.
