KATHMANDU, June 17: Prime Minister´s political advisor Devendra Poudel has said Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai would not resign from his post, putting the nation in uncertainty.

Speaking at a face-to-face program organized at the Reporters´ Club on Sunday, Advisor Poudel said the post of prime minister could not be vacant without an alternative to Dr Bhattarai was managed.

The Prime Minister and the UCPN (Maoist) Chairman were making home work for the formation of national consensus, according to leader Poudel.

He urged the opposition parties to seek the Prime Minister´s resignation on the basis of national consensus but not from the street.

In another note, he said that during his visit to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the Prime Minister would hold bilateral and multilateral talks with different political leaders.

Speaking at the same programme, Nepali Congress leader Dr Minendra Rijal accused the Prime Minister of ´staging drama´ of holding election to Constituent Assembly in order to retain power.

Similarly, CPN (UML) leader Yubraj Gyawali claimed that recent activities of the Prime Minister were irresponsible.

Urging the Prime Minister to open a door to the national consensus, he stressed that the Prime Minister should cancel his Brazil visit, considering the political crisis in the country.

Likewise, former foreign minister Upendra Yadav said the head of the caretaker government could not sign any treaties.

The best option for the Prime Minister at present was to get fresh people´s mandate, he added.
