The South Asian Games gold medalist had set three national records on Tuesday in the 77 kg weight category. Adhikari lifted 122 kg in snatch to better his previous record by 1 kg. [break]
Similarly, he lifted 162 kg in clean and jerk to surpass his previous record of 161 kg. He also bettered the previous record by 2 kg in total to set a new record of 282 kg.
National record holders Tara Pun and Uttam Khatri were declared the strongest woman and best weightlifter respectively in the women´s section. Both of them belong to Nepal Police Club.
Pun had set four national records on Tuesday with two records in clean and jerk, one each in snatch and in total to better her own previous records. Pun, 29, who competed in the heavyweight category (+75 kg), lifted 67 kg in snatch bettering her earlier record by 1 kg.
She set two records in jerk, first lifting 91 kg and later 95 kg.
Earlier, she held the record of 90 kg in jerk. She also set a new record in total lifting 162 kg. In the women´s 58 kg category, Uttam Khatri had set national record in clean and jerk lifting 78 kg. Khatri broke Jhanta Katuwal´s record of 77 kg set in 2066 in Birgunj.
