Action to take against assaulter of journalist

PANITYANKI (Morang), June 10: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Upendra Yadav has said the government will take action against those assaulting Biratnagar-based journalist Khilanath Dhakal at any cost.



Talking to journalists in Biratnagar on Thursday morning, Deputy Prime Minister Yadav claimed that action will be taken against the persons involved in physical attack on journalist Dhakal irrespective of the their affiliation to any of the parties.[break]



At a face-to-face program organized by Reporters’ Club Nepal, Morang Chapter, he pledged to talk to Prime Minister and Home minister regarding action against the assaulters after returning Kathmandu.



Recalling the crucial role of journalists in institutionalizing democratic republic in the country, he reiterated commitment to bring the criminals attempting to gag press freedom to book.



Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal will not tender resignation till a credible environment for consensus was created in the country, he claimed, pulling out had from the government without forging consensus will create anarchy and uncertainty as in the past.



Claiming that the then Ministers are also guilty in the Sudan scam, DPM Yadav argued that the guilty Ministers should not be given clean chit in the corruption case.
