Eight people of a family in Chaukhe Tole-3 in the western part of the district have fallen ill with an unidentified disease. The family belongs to an underprivileged Dalit community."These children have high fever, headache, and pain in their hands and legs and they complain of numbness in the whole body," informed Gori Kala GC, a local.
According to GC, the family had sought help at District Health Office (DHO), Jajarkot, which advised them to seek treatment at a local health post.
The parents of the children are in India and are yet to return home.
The children have been identified as Sunita, 21, Bale, 16, Chandra, 15, Dile, 14, Gorkhe, 11, Bijule, 9, Santa, 7, and seven-year-old Kalpana.
All of them suddenly fell ill on Monday evening.
Locals said the children were in critical condition when they were admitted at the local health post.
Meanwhile, Dr Deepak Pun of Jajarkot District Hospital said a medical team from Majhkot Health Post was deployed as soon as the news of infection reached them. "The children may be suffering from a seasonal flu. We have also provided necessary medicines for their treatment. Now situation is now in normal condition," claimed Dr Pun.
However, locals claimed that the children were not showing any signs of recovery and they need to be taken to the district hospital at the earliest.
