In addition, the district court judge Shekhar Prasad Poudel ordered confiscation of all properties of the eight convicted.
The court also ordered Meraj Ahmand Sai, the main accused, to return Rs one million that he had taken in ransom from the family of one of the abducted boys. [break]
The court also slapped a 44-year jail term on police constable Shakir Ali Behana, who was accused of abetting the boys´ abductors. The court acquitted CP Singh, a local rights activist, who was charged with mediating between the abductors and the families of the abducted boys, though.
Kailash Kumar Gadariya, Rajit Kumar Kurmi, Ram Shobhit Kurmi, Najir Khan, Rajjab Ali Sai, Ibrahim Manihar and Insaf Ali, who were also arrested along with Sai, have also been sentenced to 78 years in jail. They were convicted of kidnapping and murdering Kapil Dwivedi and Liladhar Bhatta, ninth graders at a local school in Banke in 2010.
Kapil and Liladhar were kidnapped on September 30. They were later found murdered early in October. Six people who were also allegedly involved in the two boys´ kidnapping and murdering are still absconding.
