7 civil servants killed, 4 still missing in April 25 quake

KATHMANDU, May 1: As many as seven Nepal Civil Servants lost their lives while four are still missing in the devastating earthquake that hit the country on April 25.

Similarly, Accountant of Water-Induced Disaster Prevention and Control Office, Krishna Prasad Pokharel of Bara was killed after Shantinagar Gate collasped while he was traveling by a microbus in the earthquake.


Director of tuberculosis and leprosy under Public Health Office, Kathmandu Chandra Bahadur Shrestha and Senior ANM Bijaya Shrestha of Bir Hospital died in their own residence in Kapan after their house crumbled by the fatal quake.


Likewise, government employees Gangaram Dhungana, Gopal Lamichhane, Shyam Bahadur Aryal and cook Prem Giri of Syaprubesi-based Rasuwa Custom Office have gone missing.

"Four staffers have gone missing after the landslide triggered by the earthquake buried the office," Punya Prasad Dhakal , Chairman of Nepal Civil Servants Association told Republica. He said a search operation for the missing staffers is underway.
