SURKHET, April 28: A passenger bus en route to Surkhet from Kathmandu fell some 200 meters down from the road near Harre along the Ratna Highway on Saturday morning, injuring 31 persons, 11 critically.
According to deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Ananda Martha around 11 passengers who have been severely injured in the incident, have been rushed to Kohalpur for treatment and the rest with minor injuries have been sent to Birendranagar. [break]

A rescue police team led by Chief of Surkhet Police SP Govinda Ram Pariyar has been deployed at the accident site, Martha informed.
The accident took place while the bus (Na 3 Kha 5294) tried to avoid colliding with a jeep (Bhe 1 Cha 1141) coming from the opposite direction, police informed.
Akkal Thapa of Bidhyapur, Surkhet, the bus driver Gagan Kumar of Birendranagar, his assistant Nir Kumar Khadka of Chinchu, Pradeep kumar Bohara of Chinchu, Gambhir Shahi of Uttarganga and Bharat BK were injured in the incident.

Ramlal of Salyan, Ananda Shahi of Syuna, Jaya Bahadur Pun of Jajarkot, Madhav Bahadur Khatri of Narakot, Jumla and Sher Abdul Rahim of Kolkata, India have also been severely injured in the accident, police informed.
They have been undergoing treatment at Kohalpur Teaching Hospital and Maya Nursing Home, Kohalpur. There were a total of 38 passengers on board at the time of the accident.
