Talking to media persons on Monday, he said the present political impasse could be brought to an end through talks and political consensus among the leftist, parliamentary, and patriotic forces.[break]
He stressed on making a constitution that can address the aspirations of the people and also urged the political parties to hold talks with former king Gyanendra Shah rather than only making unnecessary comments about him.
"I have suggested Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai to take and share the experiences of 240-year monarchic system with the former king rather than only criticizing Shah´s activities in the present transition," said Thapa.
The RPP-N chairman said extensive talks were necessary among all the political forces to take the peace process to its logical conclusion and to promulgate the new constitution.
In a different context, Thapa said the constitution of 1990 could be an alternative to fill in the constitutional vacuum if the Constituent Assembly failed to promulgate the new constitution within May 27. He added that the monarchial democracy is the best option for the country.
