3 CA members hurt in Maoist attack

BARDIYA, Mar 9: Maoist cadres on Tuesday pelted stones at the Health Minister Umakanta Chaudhary´s vehicle on the way to Bardiya from Nepalgunj.



While Chaudhary was unhurt, three Constituent Assembly Members were injured by the stones.



Those injured are CA members Ajaya Dwibedi, Badshah Kurmi and Man Bahadur Mahato.



Manager of the Ghodaghodi FM Dhruba Bahadur Shah was also injured in the attack. Maoist cadres also vandalized a vehicle used by the Department of Health.



Police arrested four Maoist cadres in connection with the attack.



Those arrested are Giridhar Pokharel, Shankar Prasad Tharu, Narayan Pariyar and Lalit Bohara. Minister Chaudhary and the CA members were heading toward Bardiya to hand over an ambulance to a sub-health post in Gulariya, 40 km away from Nepalgunj.



Despite Maoist attack and obstruction, Minister Chaudhary attended the function at the sub-health post in Gulariya.
