The deceased have been identified as Ramsewak Raut Gaderi and Ram Prakash Yadav of Sabaila Municipality, according to District Police Office (DPO), Dhanusha. Gaderi, who was critically injured, breathed his last on the way to Kathmandu for further treatment, while Yadav was reportedly shot dead.
The dispute took a nasty turn after a group headed by CPN (Maoist) leader Matrika Yadav and a CPN-UML Central Committee (alternate) member Yoga Narayan Yadav-led group claimed leadership of the Madan-Ashrit Secondary School Management Committee in Sabaila Municipality.
Following the termination of the last SMC, the school had called a meeting Sunday for the selection of a new body. The meeting ended without conclusion but decided to hold an election on April 8 to form the committee.
After the meeting, cadres of political parties including the Nepali Congress, UCPN (Maoist), CPN (Maoist) and CPN-UML gathered at local Ramdev Thakur’s house to hold talks on possible candidates for the management committee.
“While the meeting for selection of the SMC was underway, a group led by CPN-UML Central Committee member (alternate) Yoga Narayan Yadav attacked the gathering indiscriminately with bamboo sticks,” said UML Village Committee Chairman Rambali Sah.

It is reported that even though the situation had calmed down for a while after the injured were rushed to hospital, on Monday a group suddenly turned up and shot Ram Prakash Yadav dead.
Investigations into the indicent are underway, SP Ganesh Bahadur Thapa said.
Although Gaderi was killed during the clash, Yadav’s death remains a mystery.
According to his family, Yadav had been sleeping at home till 2 a.m. when he was kidnapped and later killed. They reported the incident on Monday morning.
Meanwhile, Pradip Yadav, one of the injured, told former prime minister Baburam Bhattarai that a group led by UML leader Yoga Narayan Yadav attacked them. Bhattarai was in Sabaila Municipality to learn about the incident.
The injured urged Bhattarai to exert pressure for action against the guilty. He visited the families of the injured and deceased.
He assured them of intensive investigations into the incident and punishment of the guilty.
