KATHMANDU, Feb 16: 14 small parties aligned to the Federal Democratic Republican Alliance (FDRA) have objected to UCPN (Maoist) proposal to form a chief justice-led (CJ) election government.

A meeting of the small parties at Rastriya Sandhbhawana Party party office in Putalisadak on Saturday objected to the proposal saying it is against the principles of democratic practice and separation of power.[break]

"The meeting demanded a government led by the political party rather than chief justice-led government," Vice-chairman of Nepali Janata Dal Kabi Raj Timalsina said after the meeting.

The meeting was also attended by Minister for Industry Anil Kumar Jha, Minister for Cooperatives Yek Nath Dhakal and Minister for Women, Children and Social Welfare Badri.

Though the meeting didn’t make a formal announcement to sever ties with FDRA, the parties have decided to submit a memorandum to the president against the CJ-led government proposal.
