11 ministries allocated to Maoists, UDMF apiece

KATHMANDU, Aug 29: Top leaders of UCPN (Maoist) and United Democratic Madhesi Front, the alliance of five Madhes-based parties, held at meeting on Monday morning on division of ministerial portfolios in the new government.



The meeting, held at UCPN (Maoist)’s Parliamentary Party office in Singha Durbar, the leaders agreed to allocate 11 ministries including the home, energy and defense to the UDMF, according Raj Kishore Yadav, Vice-chairman of Madhesi Peoples’ Rights Forum-Republic. [break]



Likewise, the leaders agreed to allocate 11 ministries to Maoists and five ministries to fringe parties, Yadav informed.



UDMF’s support to Maoist candidate Dr Baburam Bhattarai had been instrumental in his election as the country’s new prime minister during the parliamentary vote Sunday evening.
