Police have indentified the deceased as Jagat Bahadur Tharu, 30, of Motipur VDC-7. [break]
According to police, nine of the injured have been admitted to Bardiya District Hospital at Gulariya and other nine critically injured have been referred to Nepalgunj Teaching Hospital.
Police inspector Upendra Prasad Mandal said that the bus overloaded with passengers had skidded off the road after losing control.

"We tried to stop the bus but they [wedding party members] didn´t listen to our warning. The bus was full of people inside and on the roof and a few minutes afterwards we learnt that the same bus had met with accident," said Mandal.
Nepal Army, Nepal police, and Armed Police Force had rescued the injured from the accident site.
Meanwhile, an eight-year-old girl died after being hit by a Bolero jeep in Udayapur district on Monday evening. Regina Pahadi of Katari Municipality ward numer 11 died in the course of treatment at Sagarmatha Zonal Hospital in Katari, informed Police inspector Madan Mainali at Katari Area Police Station.
Mainali informed that they have initiated investigation into the case and detained the jeep and the driver.
